Fresh Homemade Tomato Salsa

Fresh Homemade Tomato Salsa

There are few things as fresh tasting as a homemade salsa. When I mention making my own salsa, people are often hesitant thinking this takes too much time. Honestly, its one of the easiest things to make. Let me show you a really simple salsa recipe that you can make anytime. The great thing about salsa is you can use very few ingredients and still make a great tasting salsa. You can keep it basic with a handful of ingredients or create complex flavors by adding fruit like mangos, spices, and/or proteins like beans or lentils.

Salsa showcases the bold flavors of whole foods and is packed with nutrition. This salsa boasts a high dose of antioxidants, fiber, chlorophyll, minerals, and enzymes making this a healthy alternative to conventional condiments. When you make you own salsa you can also control the sodium and sugar content while keeping unwanted additives and preservatives out.

Salsa stores well in the fridge for up to a week making it perfect to meal prep for the week ahead. Salsa is more than a dip for chips, it’s great on protein, mixed in a buddha bowl, on top of a sweet potato in replacement of sour cream, or on top of a piece of warm crusty sourdough bread.  Use this basic recipe as a base and get creative as you go by adding a variety of fruit, veggies, proteins, or spices that you love to make it your own. Happy snacking!
