The Kids Corner is a place to find kid-approved Healthy Foods and Fun Ideas! This kids’ page is important to me. As a mother of two, I appreciate the struggle, the negotiation, and the amount of work it takes to keep our children well-nourished. Sometimes we only have 30 minutes from when you walk in the door after school until you have to be at the first extracurricular activity which makes raising healthy eaters feel like a battle sometimes.
After years of working full-time and raising two very active kids, I have learned the importance of creating quick five-ingredient meals, make-ahead power balls, and grab-and-go protein snacks. This process as a parent took trial and error and, of course, they had to pass my hardest critics – my kids! But we nailed it. Here I offer you kid-approved snacks, healthy lunchbox solutions your kids can be involved in making, tasty holistic nutrition-approved treats and so much more fun kid food ideas. My passion is to share these with other parents and hope that your kids love them too and in turn, make your life a little easier for some extra self-care time for yourself!
I have tried and tested many DIY recipes I have created myself, like my kid’s homemade cough drops, inclusive Halloween treats, and DIY playdough recipes you can make with your kids and feel good about. Lots of great school party snacks and gift ideas that fit into your health and wellness mindset. I even have my favorite natural food-based food coloring icing recipes for their Birthday cakes (cause we all need to enjoy cake still!). As I make them, I will post them to share with all of you
I hope my lived experience as a mom & the content on this page is useful to other parents. Xo, Jo

Now in part two, we are going to talk about some tips in HOW you can set the stage at home to introduce the IDEA of adding in new nutrient-dense whole foods into your child’s meals in a way that does not cause a food strike in the home and helps lay the groundwork for healthy relationships with food in the future.
From Breakfast to Dinner, and Drinks to Desserts, get into the St.Patty’s Day spirit with these green recipe ideas. Often St. Patrick’s Day recipes use green dyes which do not work for lots of people, especially many kids who are sensitive to dyes and additives. This should not mean that they can not join in the fun of the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. Here are some fun and healthy green food recipes that use whole-foods instead of green dyes. Enjoy!
As a parent, we always want our kids to make food choices that support their growth, development, health, and happiness. However, this can be a bigger battle sometimes based on food preferences, food allergies and/or intolerances, and the just plain old “picky eaters” phases that our kids throw at us.
Why does food always taste better when it’s cooked over an open fire? There is something primal to me about cooking over fire that makes me feel like I am a great explorer in the wilderness, even if I only am 45 minutes from the city at a public campsite! LOL. Now, if you work all week long and want to slip away for the long-weekend you don’t always have a ton of time to prep and cook things before hand. This is where I want to provide you some simple healthy recipes for all your camping meals, plus easy portable snacks. I have 5 breakfasts, 5 Mains, 5 Sides, 5 Snacks, and 5 Drink recipes for you below. I have given you a range of recipes that take less than 5-minutes to throw together, foods you can make or buy based on your time, and then recipes that take a little more prep but are well worth it. You can mix and match based on how much time you want to dedicate to camping food so its flexible.
What I love about this recipe is I can make endless flavor combinations, it’s a great way to use up fruit that might be bruised or a little soft instead of wasting it, and you can omit the little-added sugar! You can just blend the fruit and have 1-ingredient fruit leather. With back-to-school around the corner, I am using my seasonal summer fruit to whip up a few batches for fall. This makes packing fun snacks in the lunch box a breeze while being a cost-effective way of having fruit leather.
