“Healthified” Chicken & Waffles
I pose the question.. can you make a healthier version of chicken & waffles? Haha. I have a very dear friend visiting me from New York and I wanted to make chicken and waffles for her as I know she likes it, but you know me! I need to attempt to healthify this recipe (at least to some degree). I always talk about balance in my posts, I feel in order to develop a healthy relationship with food you need to not feel restricted, you need to enjoy food and celebrate with others without feeling guilty afterward.
How to use Egg Shells in Organic Gardening
As a passionate advocate of food insecurity, I always am looking for ways to reduce waste in my kitchen and reuse any scraps I have. This means using leftover rice to make rice pudding, bones for bone broth, soft fruit and veggies get juiced or made into jams. Egg shells are packed calcium making them a perfect food for your garden plants. While most of us toss our egg shells away, organic gardeners know that they are a great addition to any garden.
Simple Cashew Cheese
I first discovered nut cheese while studying in at the Raw Foundation Culinary Arts & Nutrition Institute. Our first day we enjoyed a plate of “cheeses” with dehydrated raw vegetable crackers and I was completely hooked. I would have never guessed that it was not dairy, we had an array of soft and hard cheeses to sample and I loved everyone.

These pizzas are the perfect easy weeknight dinners that are sure to please everyone. They also are a great way to enjoy the BBQ season while keeping things light and nutritious.
Pineapple Chocolate Chunk Nice Cream
What is there not to love about Nice Cream? It is a rich, creamy, and dairy-free dessert you can whip up in minutes when you have a craving for something sweet. You don’t need to add sweetener if you don’t want too and the flavor combinations are endless. In it’s most simplest form, nice cream is frozen banana’s that are blended to make a type of soft serve.
Peach & Basil Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Often when we think of holistic nutrition, a grilled cheese sandwich is not something that comes to mind. When I work closely with my nutrition clients I often hear their fears about making the change to eating healthy, like having to give up foods they love like grilled cheese sandwiches because of its “bad food”. Labeling foods “good” vs. “bad”, “clean” vs. “dirty”, can have a damaging impact on our relationship with food, cause feelings of guilt, and can even lead to disordered eating.
